Key West Garden Club is proud to announce:

The Francis B and William R Ford Endowment for the Key West Garden Club

Bill and Fran Ford have been instrumental in helping to preserve the beautiful natural environment of The Keys for many years and Fran has been a key member of the Key West Garden Club for more years than she cares to remember – still actively planting trees and organizing our scholarships each year.

Their son, David Ford, has generously donated $25,000 to the Garden Club to help get it back on its feet after the gardens at West Martello were devastated by four consecutive hurricanes in 2005. Encouraged by the dedication and hard work of the Garden Club in re-planning and replanting the gardens, he has pledged an additional $25,000 as long as we can raise a matching amount. This is to be used to set up an endowment fund for the Key West Garden Club in the name of his parents. The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys will manage the assets, as it does for many Keys non-profits.

What we now need to do is match David's generous pledge of $25,000 to ensure that the Key West Garden Club has a long and fruitful future, long after this current group of custodians has gone!

The mission of the Key West Garden Club is to provide educational opportunities relating to tropical vegetation and gardening and the historical educational facility in which the Club is located at West Martello Tower. I hope that you will help with a substantial contribution to this endowment. Such a gift is a wonderful way to make sure that the Key West Garden Club continues to achieve its vision of providing a place of peace and beauty, which is free to all, for generations to come.
